I invite you to explore Asturias - Spain!!!
We traveled to Oviedo - Asturias. Some friends had given us some recommendations about activities to do in the region. Nevertheless, it was exciting to discover that their praise fell short, this region is wonderful!
Our first stop was in Oviedo, is a city with a lot of history and art in its streets, but at the same time modern and young.
Don’t mind the rain, it can rain in an instant but the sun appears very fast too. If that happens to you, it's best to get into a bar and have some cider :-) or a chocolate ;-).
Above the church San Isidoro and very close to it the market El Fontan. In this market you can find prepared food as well as ingredients of the best quality and delicacies that will make you mouth water.
In July they have a pleasant 25ºC on average. We hired a car and headed to the town of Tuñon where we rented bicycles (10 euros / day) to do the Senda del Oso, a beautiful route of several kilometers to enjoy the sport outdoors.
You can go as a family, anyone who knows basic bike handling can do it. On that day there were families with children, some athletes and even people walking.
You choose the route according to your wishes, we chose to take the route that went to the Valdemurio Reservoir that looks like the blue speck on the map above (16 km going plus 16km return). We had so much fun admiring the beauty of the landscapes that we overlooked how far we went!
On the route you go through caves which have lights that light up your path REALLY VERY WELL DONE! bridges, rivers and beautiful views.
After doing the “path of the bear” we were exhausted and decided to stay a night in La Casona de Don Santos in Proaza, Spain. It is the ideal place to rest and eat well after a tiring day of exercise.
I visited Sidrería Trabanco in Sariego. They really are very kind and they spread their passion for the world of Cider.
In a few months I hope to return to Asturias to carry out the descent of the river Sella and to taste a tasty Cachopo! ;-)
I like the pictures of the market! But that's because the @Nandibear likes to EAT!!!!!!!!!!
Hello
The food in this region of Spain is delicious and the portions are large.
You really feel tempted by all the dishes!
If you like food this is a great place for you ;-)
I really enjoyed this post! I love Spain and I always love learning about new spots. My boyfriend is from Extremadura, have you been there? It's not as touristy and it's smaller but very beautiful and great tapas! The road with the cave is so cool and the food looks delicious. I'm following you for more travel adventures. I write travel posts as well, in English and some Spanish as well! :D
thanks for the comment!!
I have not been to Extremadura, but this year we are going to take a tour of northern Spain and then we will go to Andalucia!
We will definitely go through Extremadura ;-)
I hope to continue writing of my trips and I will surely read your post as well.
That's amazing! You'll have the best time! I actually lived in Granada for two months, it's my favourite! Andalucia is my favourite part of Spain (don't tell my bf lol). If you go to Granada, you have to go to the Alhambra, it's the main tourist attraction for sure, but it's really beautiful! Try to get tickets in advance as they tend to sell out during high season. Seville is also amazing too! Looking forward to more travel posts! :D
Thanks for your recommendations !!
There are many places to discover and enjoy :-)
Estupendo viaje y genial aventura. ¡No hay nada mejor que una buena sidra y un cachopo para completar una aventura por Asturias! , también es recomendable probar los chorizos a la sidra, el queso cabrales, la fabada asturiana y visitar la villa de Avilés.
