What Are The Must See Places In Thailand?

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

A lifelong dream of mine has been to travel to Thailand. I'm thrilled to have finally booked my flights to Bangkok. I'll be arriving in September and staying until flying to Krakow, Poland for SteemFest 3 and plan to return to Thailand again as soon as SteemFest is over.

Thailand and its culture have always fascinated me. The food, history, geography, and customs, are so different from my own western culture and I feel drawn to explore this other side of the world.

There are many places I plan to see but when I travel I always leave room for the unplanned and unexpected opportunities that invariably present themselves along the way.

Here is a list of places I'm planning to visit. If you have been to Thailand and can offer any advice, tips, or recommendations please do in the comments below.

  • Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of Emerald Buddha)
  • Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)
  • Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)
  • Wat Mahatat (center for Buddhist teachings)
  • Wat Benjamabhopit (Marble Temple)
  • Lopburi (Monkey Temple)
  • Ayutthaya (the ancient capital of Siam)
  • Chiang Mai (largest city in northern Thailand)
  • Phuket (the country's largest island)
  • Ko Tao (island)
  • Ko Phi Phi
  • Floating Market
  • Chatuchak Market
  • Klong Toey Fresh Market
  • Pratunam Market

If you have been to any of these places please share your experiences in the comments and any other places you would recommend visiting. Also, what is your favorite Thai food you would recommend? Thanks.

Excellent post and spectacular pic!
@luzcypher

Have you been to Thailand? Do you like Thai food?

Never, some day! When I have money but
I have eaten the food of Thailand, :)
@luzcypher

I used to watch a show of Mark Weins on Youtube and It was really interesting to see so many different foods and culture that he showed in his show. You should watch that I recommend.

I've watched a lot of his videos. His face looks so happy when he takes a bite of Thai food. I can almost taste it myself.

Exactly. I watch his videos a lot too.

changmai is great, woukd stay there a few days, also check out best breakfast place there on tripadvisor, had the bwst breakfast in my life there😃.

Phuket is nice but I would go to Krabi if you want to see nice beaches/ islands. I believe phi phi is being renovated double check. Rallye beach is nice. Phuket is just a lot of markets and sex industry.... banglaroad and kangaroo bar are a must see.

We enjoyef koh samui as well!

Bangkok my tip is use taxi in stead of tuk tuk just as cheap, the air in Bangkok you are better off not breathing!

Thanks for the tips.

I visited at least half of it, so I can say I did my best whilst visiting Thailand ;D

What were your favorite places or things to do in Thailand?

Maybe a bit cliche, but I really liked Bangkok. And diving on Koh Tao. And definitely Kaoh Sok NP, beautiful place!

Will be hanging out in Bangkok and later around November and December when the weather is better will be visiting Koh Tao and Kaoh Sok. Looks really beautiful there.

I wanted to go, I hope to be able to go one day very close :D

I have no tips to offer you @luzcypher, because I too have always wanted to go to Thailand and never have been as well! Brian and I were just talking about leaving Mexico for there, but with his health, I think it's just too much to take on. I guess it's in the cards for me one day, but in the meantime, I'll travel along with you, cyber travel :)

Woo Hoo! Cybertravel, done a bunch of that. How Brian feels better.

I'll definitely be posting about Thailand when I arrive. Will keep you posted of the experience.

I'll be looking forward to them @luzcypher! So are you leaving here for good?

I don't think so. I'll be back eventually. Maybe we should have a meetup in Playa before I go.

Sure! Let us know if you're going to make your way here. And if by "meetup" you mean over beers on 5th somewhere, I'm definitely in :)

I have never been to Thailand but I would love to go! I love some Pad Thai and Pho but have no clue what the local food is actually like. I don't know why but Thailand has always seemed so mysterious to me. I hope someday I am lucky enough to go!

Wow great pic of the places sir.
