South Korea: GoYang
Hello All,
As South Korea is very much on the news again due to the Winter Olympics I thought I could share some of my pics from GoYang (suburban of Seoul). I visited this place in February 2012.
Even though Finns still holds the world record in amount of coffee/capita the South Korans must be close since they have a coffee shop in every second corner:
At the GoYang plaza your have the Hosu Lake Park - run around it enough many times and you have done an exact marathon. (I did one round only).
And what's a Korean city without a proper pagoda
And after a good day of sightseeing, a proper local dinner is a perfect end of the day.
Camera: Sony HX5V (comes with a GPS)
I visited south Korea last year for work. Only stayed a short time, but the food was sooooo good!
I also remember staying at a hotel that was all linked in to many blocks of buildings. You could go for ages underground in malls and tunnels before coming up completely elsewhere!
Hi @bengy !
Yes - I also liked the local food a lot - cheap and very tasty. My favourite is the bbq restaurants.
I have spend all-in-all almost three months in South Korea - only issue is the time it takes to fly from Helsinki... And your hotel sounds like the Intercontinental one - with a shopping mall attached to their basement (OK, there might be more of them).
The BBQ is the best, but I would often order the BiBimBab (the rice with the mix of veggies and meat). Three months there sounds great, unfortunately I was only there for a few days with most of it trying to overcome jetlag. Thus, I wasn't able to see much.
I can't remember the name of the hotel, but I remember it was part of a huge corporation, there was also an attached theme park with rides and everything!
Helsinki, I will be there in March. Looking forward to it, I love coming to Sweden. I always bring back a couple of bottles of the Cloudberry liquor, a perfect nighttime drink!
Welcome to Helsinki @bengy !
If you want to bring home some exotic drinks - try the Finnish salmiakkikossu. :)
This? I think it would kill me, but I'll try it! Licorice flavour?
