And I wonder
I sit down and meditate with my eyes open.
I’m resting on a soft spot, made out of soil and leaves. Above me, the roof, made out of tree branches, blocks the sunlight.
There is revelry all around me, we have drunk from the sacred cacao. The goddess of the plant invites us to celebrate and have winged dreams.
I have been fasting for two days now in order to get rid of a bacteria that is feeding on me.
I am alive.
In front of me, a small river sings its crystalline song.
It’s bottom shines with pebbles, big rocks come out of the surface with an eternal breath.
I see the water lick their sides, and I wonder: What does the rock learn in it’s existence as a rock?
A leaf falls into the water and is pushed towards the rocks, and I wonder: What does the rock learn from the leaf and the leaf from the water?
I think the leaf teaches us to fall and to die.
The water teaches us to flow, to carve, to carry.
The rock teaches ud to wait, to let ourselves be carved, to breathe an eternal breath.
And I wonder: What am I learning in this life?
I learn from the rock, from the river, from the ant and from the sun. I learn from the kids, from the forrest and from the mountains. I learn that everything changes, everything is alive and that life is love.
Trees love the sun and the rain, the sun loves the earth and the moon, the moon loves the seas and men.
And I wonder: What do I love in this life?
I love the weeping of the infatuated child, I love the cold of the nightly rain, I love the laughter of the elder in his chair and of the beautiful woman in her flowery dress. I love to look into the eyes of my brothers and sisters, I love being gratefull for the food in my plate, I love remembering oldtime mischiefs, I love learning from my mistakes, I love not expecting anything in return, I love the morning chants of birds, I love the sweat on my forehead under the sun, I love the soil in my hands, I love the happiness in the tail of the dogs and the comfort in the cat’s purr, I love being able to write down the things I love, and the fact that there are so many more to name.
I love the awareness of LOVE and I pledge not to lose it.
