Travels through England
St Michael’s Mount is a National Trust site on the south coast of Cornwall. It is a castle and medieval church that crowns the top of a rocky island. It is well worth a visit.
It is accessible from the mainland via a very old cobblestone path that is only accessible by foot at low tide. We visited during high tide so I don't have an image of the path.
During the hours of high tide you need to catch a small boat over to the castle for a small fee. The whole process was very efficient and well done. No lines, no waiting time.
View to castle from the harbour
Access from the harbour is via a steep path. Its not too difficult but you couldn't take a wheelchair or pram. I did see several older people struggling up the hill and I was left wondering how they would return.
Path up to castle
The castle was fascinating. The history was rich and well documented. The views from the roof were breathtaking. There was a charming children’s activity that was rewarded with a medal at the end of the self guided castle tour.
View from the top of the castle. Check out the tried child in the right corner who is over looking through historical sites.
Medieval Chapel that is still in use.
Thanks for these pics, following you !
Looks really cool - love the old castles in England and all the history there.
