Standing at an elevation of 1045 m above sea level, in Madagali local government area of Adamawa state lies the Sukur Cultural Landscape

The landscape

Reputed to be Africa's first cultural landscape to receive World Heritage List inscription, Sukur is outlined by a rich cultural tradition that has lasted for centuries

The landscape which is situated on a hill overlooking the villages is where the palace of the Hidi (Chief) is found.

This landscape has remains unaltered for centuries despite the fact that other traditional human settlement face extinction in other parts of the world.
