Hi great friends,

A big thanks

Before I proceed I'll like to say a big thanks to you all for a rousing welcome you accorded me in my introduction post. I really appreciate you all.
Without wasting more time, let's go straightaway into the business of today.

Location

In the town of Ogbunike, located in the southeastern state of Anambra, Nigeria, lies a cave that bears the name of it's host town- Ogbunike Cave.

Come with me as we take a quick tour of one of the finest cave that nature has to offer.

The cave

Leading the way down the valley where the cave is situated is a long walkway comprising of about 317 steps.

Discovered by a hunter of Ogbunike town known as Ukwa, it is reputed to be the biggest in West Africa, enlisted by UNESCO as world heritage site and have been described as one of the greatest wonders of nature, attracting tourists from all parts of the world.
Ironically, this cave remains unknown to many.

Source

It is believed to be home to a god known as "Ogba" who is believed to be all-seeing and as a result, the cave serves as a "court" room for the town, where suspects of any sort of crime can prove their innocence by entering the cave, the guilty ones never made it out alive.

Due to religious tradition, before entering the cave, visitors are expected to remove their shoes. Also women having their monthly circle are forbidden.

If you're planning a visit to this cave you'll have to be ready to do some crawling, you'll need to wear a trouser most preferably jeans and also go along with a torch light as the inside is mostly dark.

The cave which has been used for centuries served as a "home" to locals and many other Africans during the slave trade era.

Some section of the cave is home to a large colony of baths.

Visitors often leave inscriptions on the walls to serve as a sign of their visit.

A festival known as " Ime Ogbe" is celebrated annually to commemorate the discovery of the cave.

So when next you consider or perhaps
want to experience the beauty of nature, it won't be a bad idea to consider Ogbunike cave, or what do you think? Let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks for reading and see you next time.
