My trip to Cartagena de Indias
Cartagena de Indias, Colombia
Welcome to my bloguer, I want to tell you about my travel experience in Colombia, specifically I went to Cartagena, located in front of the Caribbean Sea, of fertile, warm earth, of a temperate climate and with wonderful, kind, educated people and a city with a lot of history.
It was declared National Heritage of Colombia in 1959 and by Unesco World Heritage Site in 1984.
We started the trip from Caracas, Venezuela on 11-14-13, the expectation that I had was so great, that I wanted to reach my destination quickly.

I traveled with my partner and we stayed instead of a five star hotel, in an inn called HOSTAL INDIA CATALINA and from which I had seen his ad on TV, it was worth it, for his welcome, for the welcoming, the well located within the walled city and that allowed us to walk the colonial zone of Cartagena.

All the cities have their charm, their magic, their history to tell, and I went to visit one of the cities with the most liberating stories. Cartagena de Indias, as they are commonly called, is located facing the Caribbean Sea, has history with pirates and from there is that the wall is built to not allow the sacking in Spanish times. Many years have passed since that time, but the beauty of its walls remained, so now its colonial helmet is called the walled city.

Once we settled in the inn, we went out to know its corners, we went to the Fort of San Felipe de Barajas and it is located on the San Lazaro hill, from there we appreciate the magnitude of the beauty of the city, it is observed from the top the walled city and the new urbanism of Boca Grande. Inside the Fort we met the dungeons, their courtyards and the booths that he owns.

Other beautiful places to visit are its squares, where people sit to rest, share or simply admire the beauty of its surroundings composed of well-preserved colonial architecture. Going through the streets and enjoying this Spanish architecture, it gives it a European feel, merging with the colors of the Caribbean.

We could not stop visiting the Gold Museum, this was done with the purpose of showing the findings of gold, silver and ceramic pieces of the pre-Columbian era. There are more than 600 pieces that you can observe carefully and delight your imagination on its preparation.

If we talk about its gastronomy, you have to taste the Caribbean-style dishes that are offered, as the main ingredient used in coconut milk, for those who are not used to that flavor, it will be strange but not disgusting; I recommend you try for lunch a loin of pork in tamarind sauce, accompanied with steamed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. The breakfasts are nutritious, you can eat an arepa with egg or some meat or chicken caramiñolas with suerito from the coast.
For those who do not want to walk, you can visit the walled city in beautiful carts from the time of the Spanish Colony, pulled by beautiful horses that give you a tour of the most emblematic places of the city.

You can not leave Cartagena without taking a picture with the bronze sculpture of Don Fernando Botero, Reclining Figure or "LA GORDA GERTRUDIS", which is located in the Plaza de Santo Domingo.
