Eight cruiseships arrived this week to Roatan
Eight cruiseships have arrived between Monday and Saturday to the island of Roatan, in the Caribbean of Honduras, was reported by the Honduran Institute of Tourism (IHT).
In a statement, the Honduran Tourism Institute said that the Carnival Dream cruise ship docked on Thursday at the Mahogany Bay pier of the paradisiacal island of Roatan, the main tourist destination of Honduras in the Caribbean.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Carnival Freedom, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Magic and Rotterdam have also visited the island of Roatan, the IHT added.
Meanwhile, at Roatan Village Port in Coxen Hole, the arrivals were the passengers from the Norwegian Getaway on Tuesday, Mein Schiff 6 on Friday, and the MSC Armonia on Saturday.
Day visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the highly sought Roatan attractions, like its crystal clear waters as well as its coral reefs, which make the island a diver's paradise and its still natural beauty forest, home to many rare bird species preferred by birdwatchers from around the world.
The arrival of tourists "is very important for the economy of the island", because each passenger spends around 90 dollars during the seven hours that remains in Honduran soil, stated the release from the Tourism Institute.
In Trujillo, on the mainland side of the Honduran Caribbean, more than 2,000 passengers arrived aboard the Marella Discovery, added the Honduran organization.
