Mexico part 2 - Playa Del Carmen and the flying pole dancers

When we were staying in Playa Del Carmen, we went to the famous strip of bars and shops, home of the infamous 'Coco-Bongos' club.

This scuplture arc looked over the beach, it was beautiful.

A must-see in Playa Del Carmen is the local flying pole dancers - known as 'Danza de los Voladores' which means Dance of the Flyers. The men began by playing a tune which you can hear in this video. They then climbed to the top of the pole and sat there, tying themselves up by a thick piece of rope. The men then threw themselves off of the pole, propelling into a circular motion with their arms out as the swirled down the pole. There was nothing holding them but the ropes they were attached to.
