Architecture
I had the opportunity to take a trip to Indianapolis for FDIC ( Fire Department Instructor Conference) which is like Disneyland for firefighters. Anyway I was walking around town admiring all of the buildings, because being from Alaska we have big buildings but nothing to the scale of Indy. Growing up iv always been a fan of Architecture, I love what we as humans can think up in our creative brains and be able to build these massive structures with our own hands.
Walking around town I can across a really beautiful church right in the center of downtown Indy. If you have never been to Indianapolis the center of the city there is a monument to the men who faught in the civil war and it's dedicated to the men who were from Indianapolis. Anyway the church sits right on the corner and iv always enjoyed the architecture of churches. With its curved lines, beautiful arches and it's gorgeous stained glass. Below is a picture of this old church just sitting in the middle of down town Indy, where the city has grown around it.
It was so cool to see how the word keeps moving on around this building. So after I took some pictures I kept walking, and came across another amazing church. This one with huge steeples and decorated with art work and carvings in the stone.
It was so beautiful. As I got closer more and more details started to come out.
I have always believed that the best parts are inside. That's where the art really comes together. I walked inside to take a peek and boy was I right. Very beautiful colums and arches and of course the stained glass.
So if you really like Architecture, I highly recommend taking a stroll through the local church as in ur area.
