Singapore Welcomes Plan of 'Travel Bubble' in Riau Islands
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - Singapore welcomes the Indonesian government's plan to open limited borders, the travel bubble, for Lagoi and Nongsa tourist areas in the Riau Islands Province.
"I think this is a great declaration (of plans) on how we can start all trips between Singaporeans to the Riau Islands, especially with a travel bubble," Singapore's Second Minister of Education & Foreign Affairs Mohammed Maliki Osman said in a video conference with the Governor of Riau Islands. , Ansar Ahmad, as quoted by the press, as quoted from ANTARA.
According to him, in implementing the travel bubble, travelers from Singapore are only allowed to travel in the areas specified in the bubble.
Therefore, health insurance in the regions must be guaranteed. The health aspect is an important value that must be considered for tourists and tourism workers in the local area.
It will communicate with the Singapore Tourism Board regarding the plan.
It is hoped that the COVID-19 vaccination for tourism workers will increase the Singapore government's confidence in allowing its citizens to travel to the Riau Islands.
The Governor of Riau Islands said that Lagoi and Nongsa Point Marina are considered to have limited access for the general public, thus allowing a travel bubble to occur.
"The plan is that on April 21, we will open Bintan Lagoi Resort and Nongsa Point Marina for Singaporean tourists, of course with strict health surveillance protocols," said the Governor.
According to Ansar, according to initial talks with the Singapore Tourism Board, his party asked for special flexibility for tourists.
To support this plan, the Riau Islands Provincial Government will conduct vaccinations. All parties related to tourism objects there will be vaccinated.
Singapore tourists must go through a PCR test before sailing to Nongsa and Lagoi.
