Dear Steemians,

I like not only mountains, but also the cheerful flair of the Mediterranean. A few years ago I was on the island of Malta for a few weeks to improve my English as part of a language course. In addition to the language course, I also had plenty of time to explore Malta and its neighbouring island Gozo. The photo shows the pedestrian zone in the centre of the capital Valletta.

🇩🇪🇦🇹 Liebe Steemians, ich mag nicht nur Berge, sondern auch den lebensfrohen Flair des Mittelmeerraumes. Vor ein paar Jahren war ich für ein paar Wochen auf der Insel Malta, um im Rahmen eines Sprachkurses mein Englisch zu verbessern. Neben dem Sprachkurs habe ich natürlich auch etliche Zeit gehabt, die Insel Malta und ihre Nachbarinsel Gozo zu erkunden. Das Foto zeigt die Fußgängerzone im Zentrum der Hauptstadt Valletta.

The island of Malta is not large, the largest extension from southeast to northwest is about 35 km. Yellow buses are a popular means of transport.

Due to its very good strategic location in the Mediterranean Sea, it was often fought over thousands of years for domination of the island. In many places you can discover massive fortifications like here in the capital Valletta.

🇩🇪🇦🇹 Aufgrund ihrer sehr guten strategischen Lage im Mittelmeer wurde über die Jahrtausende oft um die Vorherrschaft über Insel gekämpft. An vielen Stellen kann man massive Festungsanlagen wie hier in der Hauptstadt Valletta entdecken.

Malta has about 415 thousand inhabitants spread over 315 square kilometres. This is the fourth highest population density in the world. The picture shows some interesting balconies on the houses of Valletta.

🇩🇪🇦🇹 Malta hat ca 415 Tausend Einwohner, die sich auf ca 315 Quadratkilometer verteilen. Daraus ergibt sich die vierthöchste Bevölkerungsdichte der Welt. Im Bild sind ein paar interessante Balkone an den Häusern von Valletta zu sehen.

In the southwest of the island there are also some sparsely populated regions, such as Dingli with its famous "Dingli Cliffs".

🇩🇪🇦🇹 Im Südwesten der Insel gibt es auch einige wenigbesiedelte Regionen, wie der Landstrich bei Dingli mit den bekannten "Dingli Cliffs".
