Day Trip to Kuala Selangor & Sekinchan, Malaysia
Hi Steemians! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with your beloved family and friends! During the last Christmas holiday, me and @juanyao had a day trip to Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan. :D
Both Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan made a perfect spot for day trip since they are located only about 100km away from Kuala Lumpur. Sekinchan, in Chinese, is translated to “village suitable for plantation”. It is well-known for our staple rice supply. Kuala Selangor, on the other hand, is a fishing village, AKA fireflies sanctuary.
After driving for an hour, we decided to dropped by Kuala Selangor to savour the local flavours! Seafood restaurants are located everywhere in the town area, offering a range of seafood dishes at reasonable prices.
One of the popular food recommended by the restaurant owner - Fried rice noodles with fresh crab. Yumsss...
Fried shrimp with oatmeal. Isn’t it delicious?
Before leaving to Sekinchan, we also bought some prawn crackers from Yeu Hock store, one of the popular seafood store in Kuala Selangor. They are known for a wide variety of seafood-related products.
We visited paddy processing gallery nearby the paddy field.
Tour guides are provided to share the stories with visitors. Besides from this, there is also a brief video presentation on the history, paddy plantation process and the types of paddy planted in Sekinchan.
After the tour and video presentation, visitors are allowed to visit “The Rice Museum” where it display traditional equipment used by farmers in early to harvest and process their crop. The entrance ticket is only RM5. It comes along with a small pack of “pearl rice” which they are famous for.
After this, visitors can ‘Pearl Rice Garden” to buy local products and enjoy foods or desserts made of pearl rice. Oh ya, Sekinchan is famous for its mangoes too. Don’t forget to try it before leaving. 😉
One of the popular foods in Sekinchan – “Organic Brown Rice Cendol”
With the picturesque landscape in Sekinchan, there are a lot of opportunities to capture amazing photos. In fact, the bright blue sky and vibrant green field has made it one of the favourite spot for pre-wedding photoshoot in Malaysia. When we visited Sekinchan in end of December, it’s the harvesting and reaping season, so we managed to take pictures on the rolls of hay.
