A Quick Walk Around Chinatown - London, England
A Quick Walk Around Chinatown
London, England
#MarketFriday Photography
Good Afternoon folks, Happy Friday! Hope you all have a great weekend ahead. Last month I took a trip to London, England for the 2018 World Blockchain Forum. While I was in town, I walked around and explored a bit with @eveuncovered. At one point, we ended up in the London Chinatown section near Piccadilly Circus.
London's Chinatown is an ethnic enclave made up of restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and more Chinese operated businesses.
When you arrive to Chinatown, you know exactly where you are. Everything around you becomes Chinese. There are large traditional Chinese archways in the middle of the streets, as seen in the first photo of this post taken at the entrance to Wardour Street.
Below is a look at the outside window of a Chinese restaurant. The roasted ducks and meats are dangling in the sill for all to see.
Many of the people walking around the streets of Chinatown were of Asian descent. It was pretty cool how a single ethnicity took over an entire neighborhood section in the city of London.
From the people to the architecture, there was a lot of Chinese culture in this small section of London. Below is a look inside the window of a corner store. All of the snacks for sale were Chinese imports. Chinatown was loaded with Chinese food and goods. It was definitely an interesting experience!

What a GREAT #MarketFriday post! Thank you! It is interesting to me also how a single ethnicity can take over a small section of the city. Yet, it is true!
I love your colorful and wonderful pictures and the words to go along with them. The corner store is so telling of how the culture is ingrained and there to stay. I find it nice to be able to leave my country and be able to find a piece of home. I have noted there are Chinatowns in many major cities and I am always and forever fascinated at how they just sprout up and become part of the landscape. I live in Washington, DC and we have a very major one here also. It is heart-warming to see a piece of Asia finding a home there.
I find the one in London very cool. I actually did not know London had one and I have been there several times. I will look for it next time, I can assure you!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to post into the #MarketFriday challenge. It was a welcome addition and we are happy to see you. If it isn't any trouble could you please post your link to your post in the comment section of my #MarketFriday post? It gets more exposture as people peruse them looking for different cultural experiences. :) You will find it here. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!

Tip!
I always levitate to that area when I decide to go for walks in London. I just feel good when I am around that area. Love the energy of the crazy city.
