I also find stuff like this quite fascinating! I am very intrigued by their minds mostly. As far as the taking of pics is concerned... I know that in our local museums etc. you are not allowed to take pics because of the effect that the flash on the camera has on the artifacts... so perhaps that was one of the reasons...
