You won't see me post car pictures very often, really. I like nice cars and I certainly one day would like to own a Tesla S or an Audi R8 (who wouldn't?), but those are nice things to have and since I prefer having to walk rather than drive to work, it's not that important.

We ended our Ontario road-trip last weekend in Kingston before driving back home on Sunday. We wanted to do a boat tour of the Thousand Islands and it slightly cut our final drive to home by one and a half hour. I had no idea Kingston was such a popular tourist sport though.
We arrived on Saturday and were greeted with a lot of people walking around the town hall, conveniently located close to the waterfront and the wharves where boat tours were taking off.

We did arrive a bit later than we were supposed to, and it is probably the reason why the most interesting boat tours were already taken. There are 5 hours, 3 hours and 1.5 hours tours and only the latter ones were available. I guess this is not surprising during the weekend though. This Discovery tour (it's its name) is not bad but it does not take you very far, as it basically is a round trip of the Whiskey and Cedar Islands and some sightseeing of Kingston's waterfront buildings.
Anyway, we embarked and I managed to snap this nice picture of the Whiskey Island:

I can't remember if there was any kind of house built on that mini-island, but it looked cool. I wouldn't live all year on such a tiny piece of land, but for weekend retreats, why not?!

It is also the right duration when you have a child that runs all around and needs exercise. A boat and the lake all-around are not that much interesting for little kids ; some fake pirates would have been great to capture his interest!
We were told the sightseeing was even better if you chose a tour taking off from Gananoque but we did not have time to verify this. We have only so much available holidays!

Right before we embarked on our mini-tour, we saw two Chevrolet Corvette, one painted like a racing car (the one that illustrates this story, and I am sorry, I have no clue whether it really is/war racing) and one sporty white. They were parked in front of the town hall (officially, Township Office). It was cool, and people were stopping by, but this was nothing compared to what it would be a few hours later.

As we landed ashore, so to speak, we immediately saw even more people in front of the town hall. And also, a lot of Corvettes, and only Corvettes. Turns out we arrived on the day of the Corvette Invasion happening in Kingston. We felt very lucky to witness this, as we were walking along very very pretty (and certainly expensive) cars.
Our kid was especially thrilled to see so many fancy cars, some having their shiny and clean engine visible to all. And at that moment, he learned the words voiture de course (race car) and says it every time he sees a car remotely resembling a sports cars 😅

Here are a few pictures that I snapped with my smartphone:

The Springer Market Square, an ice rink in Winter, full of nice cars. I wish I had a drone to properly capture the sheer number of cars parked there. I would say at least more than 50, probably closer to 100.

Many cars had special license plates such as this one.

A lot of those were cool, but this one looked really impressive.

One of the many American guests ; after all, Kingston is quite close the US borders.

All in all, an interesting day in Kingston; it would have certainly been worth staying another day, and visit the city more thoroughly. I wish we had had time for one of the most popular attractions, the Haunted Walk of Kingston, which seemed to be pretty cool to do (but maybe not with a kid?)

Hope you liked it :-)
