English is limited but, the willingness to try to help, is an endearing attribute of the Taiwanese people. (Except for bus drivers - they got no time for your English bcrap! 🤣)

Also, Google Maps gets a big tick!
It makes travelling so much easier.

About a kilomtre walk from the hostel to Nangamg Station.

I get lost alot, especially at stations.
Always ending up at the wrong spot.

HSR (High Speed Rail) tickets are about 10 times the price of the normal train.
It's still affordable though @ approx 300 TWD (under $A15)

The train is thoroughly cleaned before boarding.

The seats are allocated.

A lady brings down a refreshment trolley with items for sale.

There's a toilet on board and recharge locations.

It's a comfortable ride and saves a huge amount of time when getting around Taiwan's cities.

At Hsinchu station.

Taxi anyone?

The HSR network is a little away from the city.
A short walk across to the regular station for a slower commute to Hsinchu City

hello, thanks for the post. The seating looks more like on an airplane than on a subway train.
is that a bullet train?

yes a fast train like a bullet 😉

thanks for the response. Do you live in Taiwan?

No just a tourist.
