Lam Vien Square was built at a cost of VND 681 Billion (about $30 million). Work started in 2009 and the site was opened to the public a year later. The whole project celebrated the tenure of the 10th congress of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee with a ceremony in October 2015.

The sunflower shaped arts centre

The central square occupies an area of almost 18 acres and is covered in flowers and decorative plants. There are exhibition areas, artistic water fountains, a theatre, a festival space, a trade area and a car parking area. The cultural centre here is designed to resemble a giant sunflower, which rises more than 50 feet into the air. The cultural centre covers an area of more than twelve hundred square metres. and can hold a thousand people. It is used for art exhibitions and meetings.

Stunning design to resemble an artichoke
Another building is designed in the shape of an artichoke. Young people gather here to enjoy sitting around or skateboarding. The square is to the side of the Xuan Huong Lake so it is quite easy to visit both these popular attractions at the same time.
