The Corn Village Of India.
Have you ever heard about Corn Village Of India? Yes, there are two villages in Uttarakhand state of India which is famous as "The Corn Village". Sainji & Bhatoli Village is famous as "The Corn Village". In this post, I will be exploring the Sainji village.
The Village is located 10km away from Mussoorie and 5km away from Kempty falls. Evey house of this temple is beautifully decorated with ripe corn. The Bhatoli village is located near to Sainji village.
The village is clean, beautiful and the atmosphere around it is tranquil. Most of the houses in this village are made of Deodar tree wood. The village will amaze you with its hanging golden corns in every house.
A House In Village
The population of this village is around 400 and 35 families lived here. Sainji has nearly 15 houses. In this village, you can see every house has an open square. In the open square, you can see kids playing games.
Makki ki roti (corn chapati) and walnut chutney is the favorite food of the Village. The people of this village are lovely and friendly by nature.
According to the local people, the actual purpose of hanging out the corn grains are for drying, so that seeds of sowing of the next crop can be prepared. Decorating the house with a corn grain is considered as a sign of wealth in this villages.
The best time to visit Sainji is from March to June. There is no shop in this village, it is better that you should take your food along with it.
How To Reach
The nearest Airport to the village is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun which is 53 km away from Sainji Village. From Dehradun, you can easily take a bus or taxi to Mussoorie, and from Mussoorie you can easily reach Sainji Village.
The nearest railway station to Sainji Village is Dehradun. From there you can easily take a bus or taxi to Massoorie.
The hotels and resorts in Mussoorie now organizing the tour to these villages for there guests, which also help to increase some economy of the village. A visit to this village will make you understand the different way of life in villages.
