How Mimosas came at French Riviera Landscape, Vibrant Pictures from Cote d'Azur.
Mimosas in French Riviera are introduced from Australia by James Cook in middle of 19th century, period of ''Belle Epoque''.
They were not very popular back then for local people. Firstly they appeared in gardens of ''villas bourgeoises'' or european aristocrats. In February 13,1929 first great catastrophe arrived with frost and snow.
Mimosas are very sensitive to frost and snow and it is great challenge for them every year, to bloom and give the glorious joy of sun and spring.
Gardeners was surprised that mimosas are great survivors and two years later, in 1931, tradition of ''Fête du Mimosa'' in Mandelieu-La Napoule was established and happen since than every year in the middle of February.
Today around hundred local ''mimosists'' export more than 8 million bouquets each year around the world!
