Newfoundland: Canada's Hidden Gem
Perched on the most-easterly point of North America, the small island of Newfoundland [and Labrador] is one of Canada's most unique & beautiful Atlantic provinces. Newfoundland has a cozy island feel, with it's small streets and vibrant, colorful townhouses.
Here are five must-see attractions to visit on the island:
1. Gros Morne National Park
Massive fjords and mountains tower above a beautiful panorama of beaches and bogs, forests and barren cliffs. Shaped by colliding continental shelves and grinding glaciers, Gros Morne’s ancient landscape is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
2. The Battery, St. John's
Sitting on the edge of the St. John's harbour, on the base of Signal Hill lies The Battery, a cozy neighborhood of old-school, vibrantly-painted fishing houses. A unique representation of the island's rural flare.
3. West St. John's
Continuing with Newfoundland's obsession with uniquely-colored houses, a stroll through downtown St. John's on streets such as Duckworth, Water, and George Street can be a wonderful way to spend a day. Grab a coffee or maybe a pint from one of the hundreds of bars or coffeeshops in St. John's.
4. Berry Head Arch, East Coast Trail, St. John's
Located just south of St. John's is where Berry Head Arch lies on the coast. A naturally formed rock bridge which is quite the attraction to hikers and nature enthusiasts. As a bonus, the east coast trails consist of more than 540 km of scenic ocean views!
5. Iceberg Watching!
This can be done in the springtime over the entire east coast of Newfoundland... A truly awesome phenomenon where large glacial chunks float down from the Arctic into coves and harbors for everyone to see.
Hope you enjoyed friends!
Beautiful pictures. Looking for more of them.
Thank you! I am new to Steemit but very eager to continue posting content. I just had a quick question for you though: how has your comment generated $0.79 already? I am just curious as I'm just starting out and wondering how to have such monetizable presence.
Cheers!
