Artravel : Okinawa Travel #1 (오키나와 여행 에세이 #1)

Now I start to upload my Okinwana travel story one by one. I hope you enjoy it. Today first story is about how I start this travel. You can meet this whole story through Atravel July which is a Korea travel magazine.

안녕하세요. 여러분.

오늘부터 미리 말씀 드렸던 제 오키나와 잡지 기고된 이야기를 하나씩 업로드할게요. 모든 이야기는 아트래블 7월호에서 만나볼 수 있어요.

Start of traveling came to me suddenly. It was similar that a moment like to say to hi my old friends. "Will we go to travel?" The question always ends with this answer as "Ok..." But this was just the answer for answer. However that day was strange. There was another answer. "So when?" yeah right. We always ask questions and answers them meaningless. So When do we go to travel really?

시작은 뜬금없었다. 오랜만에 연락한 친구들끼리 밥 한번 먹어야지 인사하듯 무심하게 시작되었다. "우리 여행갈래?"라는 질문에 언제나처럼 "가야지."라는 모호한 대답으로 흐려지던 순간! 그 날은 이상하게 한 친구가 "그래서 대체 언제 갈 건데?" 라고 되물었다. 그러게, 날마다 말 만하고는 우리 진짜 언제 뭉치지?

We all started work similar time and hard thing about life was similar, too. Thus we talk about what we have in mind and what we are struggle with whenever we meet. That made us feel that we understand each other. We ends up this hangout with sentenses as "Everything will be alright.", "Next year will be better." We couldn't sure that these sentenses are for you or me. That's why I could taste little bit bitter thing inmy mouth when I go back to home. It feels that our youth is not shinny any more.

다들 비슷한 시기에 사회생활을 시작했고 힘든 것도 비슷했기에 만나면 고민을 털기 바빴다. 공감이 갔고 위로가 됐다. 헤어질 땐 비슷한 말을 하곤 했다. "잘 될 거야." "내년엔 좀 더 나을 거야." 나에게 하는지 말인지 너에게 하는 말인지 모를 모호한 말을 내뱉고 돌아가는 길. 우리 시간도 추억도 이제는 반짝이는 것 같지 않아 왠지 씁쓸했다.

"Hey. Travel is not that big decision. Let's go!" Like most Korean company, vacation for trip was hard to get it. We could get only 3 days including weekands. Oh well. Let's hush and do busy for having fun in this trip together.

One of my friends worked until very late night for 5 days without rest to get only one day break for holiday. Thus she was so tired when she arrived at Naha airport, Okinawa. But travel atmosphere made her cheer up. She even found a cookie which is called 'Yikishio Chinsco'. In Korea, we call it by snow salt cookie. It made her feel better.

"야! 여행이 별거야? 당장 날 잡자!" 휴가가 박한 회사 사정들로 인해 주어진 시간은 고작 2박 3일이었다. 출국 날과 입국 날을 제외하면 오키나와에서 온전히 보낼 수 있는 시간은 단 하루. 까짓 거, 치열하고 숨가쁘게 놀고 마시지, 뭐!

하루의 휴가를 얻고자 친구는 5일 연속 야근을 선택했다고 한다. 그래서 오키나와 나하공항에 도착했을 때 그녀의 심신은 더 이상 피폐해질 수 없을 정도였다고. 이런 그녀를 처음 반겨준 오키나와 잇 아이템은 유키시오 친스코였다, 한국에선 눈꽃 소금 과자라고 불리는. 오키나와 여행의 첫 감동이 한낱 과자라니 살짝 시시할 만도 하지만! 이건 명실상부 악마가 만든 과자다.

The cookie was made by a weat and salt of deep Okinawa ocean. It looks like a white chocolate. I thought that it might be salty because it is made by salt, but it was very sweet. Salty and sweet taste combination is alwasy right. This sweet helped my friend and us charge energy and start out travel with good emotion.

원래 친스코는 밀가루로 만들어 구운 과자를 일컫는 말이다. 이 밀가루 과자에 오키나와 지하 해수로 만든 설염을 더하면 소금맛 과자가 만들어지는데 이게 바로 유키시오 친스코다. 얼핏 보면 화이트초콜릿 같기도 한 과자를 한 입 베어 물면 짤 거라는 예상과 달리 부드러운 단맛이 입안에 가득 퍼진다. 먹다 보면 사각사각 소금이 씹히는데, 그 식감이 엄청난 중독성이 있다. 이게 바로 치명적인 단짠단짠! 유키시오 친스코가 그녀는 물론 우리의 부족한 당을 채워주고, 오키나와 여행 본격 스타또다!

글쓰는 것도 어렵지만 영어로 번역을 하는 것도 상당한 에너지가 드는 일이네요. 그래도 노력해 볼게요.
