Have fun in Korea : Surfing (양양 서핑)

Today, I want to tell you about my first surfing experience. Korea is not that good place for surfing, but still it is possible in some area as Jeju Island and Gangwon-do. I tried to learn surfing when I visited Jeju Island where is a beautiful island in Korea for traveling. However, there was a reservation problem issue, thus I couldn't get the chance for it at that time. After that happens, a surfing became one of my bucket list. Actually I put many things for my bucket list though. Anyway, finally I go to Gangwon-do for surfing! Yay!

오늘은 제 첫번째 서핑 도전기에 대해 들려드릴까 합니다. 한국은 서핑에 최적화된 나라는 아니예요. 하지만 강원도나 제주같은 지역에서 서핑이 가능하다는 사실. 그래서 제주여행 갔을 때 한번 도전해 봤는데 서핑업체와의 예약 문제로 인해서 결국 못했었거든요. 그 이후 서핑은 제 또 하나의 버킷리스트가 되었는데요. 물론 제 버킷리스틑 꽤 많긴 하지만ㅋ 어쨌든 마침내 저는 강원도에 서핑을 하러 가게 되었습니다.

The weather of a day that I tried surfing was not that good. It was rainy and cloudy. Even there wasn't good wave. However I am a beginner, thus those problems didn't matter to me. I learned surfing postures like how I paddle or how I stand on the surfing board. It was little bit hard but I used to ride a snow board in the winter. Because of that, I could learn surfing easily. I made a reservation for a group lessons which is the cheapest way to learn it. However, because of weather or not, there is nobody except us, so it because a private lesson. That was lucky. The teacher was kind and kept focus on us.

서핑을 하는 날 날씨는 그렇게 좋지 않았어요. 비도 오고 먹구름도 잔뜩이었거든요. 심지어 파도도 없는 날이였죠. 하지만 저는 초보자이기 때문에 그런 문제들은 크게 제 서핑수업에 상관이 없었어요. 저는 어떻게 서핑보드를 헤엄쳐 앞으로 나가는지 어떻게 서는지 등의 자세를 배웠죠. 약간은 어려워지만 평소 겨울에 스노우보드를 즐겨서 그런지 쉽게 배울 수 있었어요. 저는 가장 저렴하게 배울 수 있는 방법인 그룹레슨을 예약했는데 날씨때문인지 저희밖에 사람이 없었죠. 그래서 개인레슨처럼 되어서 친절한 강사님께 관심을 듬뿍 받으며 배울 수 있었어요.

In fact, riding surfing is not that difficult because I didn't expect a lot for the first time. The most hard thing is carrying the surfing board. The board is very very heavy for me. It was much bigger than me. Surprising thing is that it float on the water even though the heavy weight. If you carry it well nearby beach, you've done well for learning half of surfing.

사실은 타는건 제가 처음이니까 그렇게 크게 기대안해서 어렵지 않았는데요. 가장 힘들었던 것은 무거운 서핑보드를 옮기는 일이었어요. 저보다 훨씬 크고 무거웠기에 정말 무거웠거든요. 근데 이 무거운게 물에 엄청 잘 떠요ㅋ 어쨌든 서핑보드를 해변까지 옮기셨다면 서핑의 배움에 반은 완료하셨다고 보셔도 되요.

After 2 hours lesson, the teacher let us have free time as much as we want. However, playing in the water make people spend a lot of energy. I mean I was exhausted. Therefore, I spent one more hour to practice surfing and that was it for that day. It was fun, thus I might go there once more. Or I might go to Jeju Island or Hawaii for surfing! It was exciting experience.

2시간의 레슨이 끝난 후 강사님은 자유시간을 저희가 원하는 만큼 주겠다고 했죠. 하지만 물에서 노는건 체력소모가 상당한 일이라서 완전 지쳤었어요. 저는. 그래서 한시간 정도 더 연습하다가 그것으로 그날은 끝냈죠. 서핑은 재밌었어요. 그래서 아마 그곳에 한번 더 가거나, 제주나 하아외에 서핑을 하러 갈 것 같아요. 상당히 신난 경험이었거든요.
