Can you see all of Paris in 48 hours?
Is it possible to take in the entirety of Paris in 2 days? No, its impossible. But you can try to fit in alllll of the best bits, as well as you can!
8.31 AM-
From St.Pancras get on the Eurostar! Sit back and relax, because this will be the only down time you truly have!! Prices start from 29 GBP for a single ticket (http://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/calendar/find-your-return-paris), but remember this takes you to a whole new country!
11.47 AM-
Although the train is only 2 hours long, with the time change it adds an extra hour on. I suggest taking an uber or taxi (or if you're truly brave enough the metro!) to Champ De Mars. This is where the Eiffel Tower is situated and opts for so many photography points! If you're looking for some inspiration as to the ultimate eiffel photo, take a look on instagram...
12.30 PM-
So you're probably slightly hungry now, especially with the vast amount of cute Parisian road side restaurant/cafes, located EVERYWHERE.
Just because you're in france doesn't meant that you have to eat typically all french food! We opted for a vegetarian safe pizza and pasta place, but if you're looking for typical french cuisine check out La Poule Au Pot,
This restaurant, I kid you not, serves Snails and if you ask me- is pretty french!
NB: this isn't in champ de mars, but is accessible via any mode of transport!
2 Pm-
Next you need a bit more shopping before you fit in any more sightseeing! Walk up to Champ Elysees, for designer and high street brands as well as all of the tourist stop shops you could need to kit yourself out with! Don't forget your souvenirs!!
Although this may not be my photo, it got me personally very excited to hit some shops that you may not necessarily visit in your day to day life!
4 PM-
Crepe time. Crepes are notoriously known in Paris for being their food, and it would be criminal to go to Paris and not have a crepe!!
Here are some well known Creperies:
- Breizh Café
- Krügen
- Bretons
These are situated all over the city and there are many pop-up stands too, so definitely try them!
5 PM-
This is the boring time, to go and check in and get ready for your evening! Although, visiting a brand new hotel can be very exciting, especially when you're in a traditional french hotel on the 6th floor..
Although its not necessary to get all dressed up, its sometimes nice to do so! Especially if you're like me and sometimes you just want to get all glam!
6.30 PM-
There are two great options for dinner both with very different price ranges! Firstly, you can eat at the top of the Eiffel Tower..
This tends to start at €85 per person, so if more of a splash out dinner- as it won't include any drinks! The mains start at this price alone! But you also pay for the view, so it is good to weigh up the benefits.
A different idea, that is certainly less touristy is to visit la marais, which is where all the 'locals' tend to go for food and nights out. There is every type of food place you can think of, but veggies beware its mainly all meat!
The night moves on, you can walk around or go back to your hotel- this comes down to you I believe!
8.30 AM-
Breakfast!
10 AM-
After checking out, and bidding farewell to your hotel, its time for some more sightseeing. But I can hear you say you've had a heavy night? Well fear not, the boat tour has you covered!
This takes you to every big landmark in Paris (more or less), apart from the Arc de Triomphe. The benefits of being on a boat also include not getting lost, not spending more in high end shops and being able to rest your feet after walking miles the day before! These trips run practically all day every day, and some tours include food as well so its definitely worth it!
11.30 AM-
If you've not been up the Eiffel Tower, now is a great time to do so! Beware, book in advance to avoid practically all queues, and when I say queues I mean summer in Disneyland kind of queues.
2 PM-
Walk over to the bridge of Love.
Even if you're not in love, or with someone you love like that, the sheer scale of it is crazy.
2.30 PM-
Have a stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries, it is gorgeous and also leads straight to the Carousel de Louvre for either some culture or some more shopping!
The gardens are just beautiful and if you're there on a nice day, sitting down and taking it all in for a moment may be a nice thing to do. (or just skip straight to the shopping if you don't like the outdoors to much)
4 PM-
Now is the time for any last little bits you might have heard of and/or want to do. This is your last chance so get on it quick!
6 PM-
It is time to go home unfortunately. Board back on the Eurostar, but take note the time difference so technically you're only on there for an hour... every cloud has a silver lining?
So I hope you enjoyed this brief outline of how to see some of Paris in just under 2 days. It would of course be impossible to take in all of the beautiful city in such a short time but as long as you've tried your best and had a good time, thats all that matters!
Hope this week is good to you! Comment below any thoughts or maybe a suggestion for a post and I'll come check out your blog in return:-)
thanks for sharing
Great post. I look forward to seeing what you saw. :) and hopefully enjoying the same level of cuisine. yum
