Mount Batur Sunrise Trek – Bali!
An amazing adventure, a unique challenge which rewards you with a real sense of achievement and an absolutely beautiful moment!
We looked at booking the sunrise trek to the summit of Mount Batur, an active volcano in Bali, when we were making our travel plans but couldn’t make up our minds about doing it. While we were in Bali it was there lingering in the background the entire time we were there. I was having that internal conversation…”It would be amazing to see the sunrise there…it would be an achievement…but it will take up a big chunk of time…will I even be able to do it?”
I kept finding myself googling “Mount Batur sunrise trek” I read countless blogs and articles about the trek and all gave differing impressions of how hard it was going to be, the full range, some said it was the hardest thing they had ever done, some said it was doable for people of average fitness, some said it was very tough but doable. I was looking for something which would make my mind up for me…I couldn’t find it…my fiancee really wanted to do it, so did my adventurous side…to see the sunrise from the top of a 1717 metre high active volcano? My adventurous side won!

We booked the trip through the things to do section of the TripAdvisor website, the tickets cost around £40 per person, all of the reviews were positive and said what a great experience it was…I was feeling slightly happier!
We tried to get some sleep but I was excited and nervous, it was not easy! We were picked up by our driver from our hotel The Watergarden, in Candidasa (read about our stay here) at around 1:30 am, we picked up another couple and then began our trip north through the night towards Mount Batur.
