Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis - Part 1
Hello everyone!
Today I want to share some photos from my travel to Greece. There I visited many interesting places. Here is one of them – the Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis.
The museum of Nikopolis contains collections of architectural parts and sculpture from the ancient city. Let’s enter to it together.
Nikopolis or Nicopolis (it means, the victory city) is probably the largest in size ancient city in Greece. It is located about 8 kilometers away from Preveza, in Epirus and it was built by the Roman emperor Octavian after his victory at Aktion against Antony and Cleopatra of Egypt. The size and the extensive walls are remarkable and totally stunning.
The impressive Roman Odeon includes the auditorium, the orchestra and the stage. It was built in the 1st century AD and remained in use until the second half of the 3rd century.
To be continued...
Hi! I would love close up photos of any pictographs or images the ancient Greeks may have placed on these sites!
