Snake road going to the city on top of the mountains, Baguio City.

KENNON ROAD!

Kennon Road is a roadway in Benguet province in the Philippines connecting the mountain city of Baguio to the lowland towns of La Union. The project begun in 1903 and opened for travel on January 1905. It was originally called the Benguet Road and later renamed in honor of its builder, Col. Lyman Walter Vere Kennon of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

For travelers coming from Manila or the provinces in central and south Luzon, it is the shortest route to Baguio with great views and sites where you could take a picture. But take note, kennon road is not for "newbie" drivers since there are a lot of twists, hangings and tight sloping curves.

One of the best views you can see and experience when going up to the Summer Capital of the Philippines, City of Pines, Baguio City is this, the long winding zig zag road going up a steep mountain with slopes, curves and so much more!

One of the famous view you can see when going up the road is the famous "Bridal Veil Falls"

This falls is located along Kennon road in Twin Peaks/Klondykes, Tuba Benguet. Used to be one of the tourist attractions/sights that people would stop and watch specially during the rainy seasons. Unfortunately it is being claimed by this person who built a poorly designed building beside the falls and that really ruined the beauty of this place.

Other falls are just along the side of the road, if you came from a long trip down south or central luzon and you need a heavy car wash to remove dirt on your car? Worry no more! We have free car wash here! Just park on the bottom of this falls and let the magic of the water do the washing for you.

And last but definitely not the least is the Lion's Head

The Lion's Head is located in Camp 6, the Lion's Head measures 40 ft (12 m) in height. It was conceptualized by the Lions Club members of Baguio, during the term of Luis Lardizabal as mayor of Baguio from 1969 to 1970 and as the club's president, to become the club's symbol or imprint in the area. More than hundreds or thousands of tourists take their picture here in this great work of architecture, you haven't been to kennon road if you don't have a picture with the great lion's head.

Prior to the artistic sculpting, the limestone was prepared by a group of engineers and miners, then the "actual artistic carving of the facade" was rendered by Anselmo Bayang Day-ag, an Ifugao and Isinay artist and woodcarver from the Cordillera Administrative Region. The construction project began in 1968 but was interrupted due to some unforeseen events and the project was continued in 1971 by another Lions Club president, Robert Webber, and was unveiled in 1972. Definitely a great work of art!

ENJOY YOUR STAY IN MY CITY!
There are a few dozen more sites and falls to see, you can even see rivers and bodies of water, but they are somewhat hidden and needs trekking to be seen, that I will reserve on my later posts.
