Goldrooster in Spain #1 Salamanca

Dear all,

After an afternoon flight of some 2 hours with KLM we landed in Madrid where it took us one hour to get the keys of our rental car with Avis. Next was a two hour ride to Salamanca our first two day stop. As the beam on the airport did not open automatically we hade to return again to the Avis office but after that we could really start.

At 8 pm we arrived at our hotel in Salamanca. In Spain the main meal called La Comida as in comer= to eat is from 1 pm till 3 pm so we missed that. So we took of for "cenar" which is diner which is not a problem in a city as large as Salamanca.

The next day we visited all the main attractions by foot - walking in the shade as much as possible. Salamanca is a mid sized town with moderate traffic around the historic centre but in the centre most is pedestrian zone which we love a lot. With temperatures close to 30C (100 F) it was hot but that is what we like. Outside diner and lunch is such a blessing for us Northerners and the chilled white wine tastes so much better when the weather is hot!
