Trip To Legoland, FL

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

If you plan on going to Central Florida, then Legoland is a great theme park if you have younger children. Forget Disney, which is a rip-off, and instead head to Winter Haven to escape the Orlando traffic and all the people.

There are two hotels in Legoland, the main hotel and the beach retreat. The best value is to stay off the premises. You'll want to buy the tickets ahead of time to avoid paying for parking. You can just print them out at your hotel, if you have a business center there. For the best luck, pick a rainy day, but you also run the risk of them closing most of the rides due to lightning.

The lines are not that bad here compared to most other theme parks in Florida, this is taken on a cloudy day. Again, your best bet is to buy those ticket beforehand, and if you live in Florida just opt for the annual pass. We got ours on Black Friday and got free parking plus it includes some extras in Orlando, including the Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds, and SeaLife. It ended up being around $99 per person on sale.

Here is what it looks like when you first enter the park.

From rare Legos to all kinds of collectibles, you will find them here.

They have Legos for all budgets, but don't expect to find many deals. Here is one of the cheaper offerings...

You can find lots of rare pieces at the factory store, and they change often.

The park is build on the old Cypress Gardens site, and you can see that in the landscaping all around the park. You'll also see it around the lake where they have water ski shows.

They've got roller coasters for the older kids, and you see a few couples without kids there, although I don't know what they are doing there. This is mostly a park for people with children.

Here's one of the many giant Lego sculptures that decorate the park.

Don't bother paying to skip the line, your money will be wasted on most rides here.

The bumper boats are a big hit!

Be sure to visit the water park while you're there! Watch out, those lockers are expensive and small though, so pack light!

I would go here first, since it's at the back of the park and try to make yourself up towards the front of the park throughout the day.

The lazy river is one of the best parts of the park. Too bad there's no alcohol for us grown ups, lol.

As you make you way into the rest of the water park, you will notice a wave pool and more bricks for the kids to play with.

Here is a kiddie pool for the smaller kids.

You can enjoy some lunch by the pool and makes a great place to hide from the rain.

There are more slides for older kids and a gigantic bucket which will get you soaked.

Here's a shot of the wavepool, with the storm about to roll in.

When it rains, head to imagination station, duplo valley, or the movie theater. Everything closes down!

When the rain dies down, a few rides open up, like this one.

Enjoy your time in Legoland, hope you have better weather than I did!
