Impressions from Ischgl
Some impressions from my vacation in the Silvretta Arena in Ischgl in February 2018. This is a huge and beautiful Austrian/Swiss skiing area that joins Ischgl and Samnaun.
The Silvretta Arena is a ski resort in Ischgl (Tyrol, Austria) and in Samnaun (Grisons, Switzerland). In 1963 the first cable car was put into operation in Ischgl. Today, 45 lifts transport winter sports enthusiasts up to 2870 m.
There are 238 kilometers of pistes (515 hectares) available, of which can be snowed with the help of 1,100 snow cannons up to 80%. Total transport capacity of the cable cars is approximately 93,000 people per hour.
There are 14 mountain restaurants and ski huts throughout the area. There are also 74 km of cross-country trails and three toboggan runs with a total length of 12 km.
