Horseback Riding In The Andes

in #travel6 years ago

Back from Chile, and ready to share photos with you!

So just recently I went on a trip back to South America. Gotta say.. I miss those Volcanoes. Actually, I hear that one is active right now!

Before heading back to the states, me and my friend took the opportunity of having access to some pretty phenomenal destinations and mountains, and decided to go camping for a week.

Plus, there are no wild bears or wolves. This calms my friend down.

To get up to this certain camping area called La Junta, you could either hike on foot and risk basically swimming in mud puddles because the trails were quite muddy from the rain and horses constantly stopping through there, or you could actually go up by horse! Which, I was more than excited to do.

We made arrangements for the horse dude with his fancy pancho to meet us at the bottom of the mountain and take us up this four hour trail up to La Junta. He dropped us off, helped us unload our heavy bags of food and camping gear, and went on his way. We also made arrangements for him to come back a week later with four horse, and take us back down.

It does not show in this photo below, but this is a flat point of a waterfall. A little to the right, it drops off.

Crossing this waterfall, I will admit made me kind of nervous. Prior to this point, my horse had fallen on it's knees several times. So I wasn't sure how this was gonna go.. but we crossed it just fine.

La Junta, camping destination.

This is what a lot of the way up the mountain looked like.

If anybody has any questions on where to rent these horses, or where to camp in Patagonia, I'll be happy to see how I can help!
Until next post my friends!!

Vaya amigo al parecer fue una experiencia inolvidable, cabalgar por esos lugares es una aventura total, que pocos han hecho felicidades debe estar muy feliz de lo vivido :D

Yay glad you're back!! The third to last picture for some reason kinda makes my heart skip a beat. Rock formations get me excited for some reason lol. This looks awesome!

Haha, awesome you liked that picture. I'm excited then to show you all the rocky mountains I saw! :)
You are an inspiration by the way. I admire your consistent work on steemit.

omg you're so sweet!!! Don't admire too much, I sometimes shirk other responsibilities in order to do it (please don't tell anyone how hairy my armpits are and that I haven't bathed in a week lol).

LOL. You're hilarious. I guess that's the sacrifice sometimes! hahah
