Welcome to South Tyrol
As already promised, I wrote this article about my home country South Tyrol.
South Tyrol is the northernmost region of Italy and is known for its unique environment and nature.
South Tyrol is particularly popular with tourists, as we can admire a unique environment and nature. In addition, enthusiastic athletes enjoy the extensive range of sporting activities.

Nature and environment
The Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage
In 2009, the Dolomites were included in the Unesco World Heritage Site. Among the most famous peaks of the Dolomites include the Tre Cime, the Latemar, the Odle and the Sella Massif.
The Dolomites and the calming nature draw every year millions of tourists to South Tyrol.

Tre Cime
The Tre Cime Dolomite towers are located in Alta Pusteria and are known as the symbol of the Dolomites. Every year, they attract enthusiastic hikers, climbers and friends of ski tours.

The Latemar
With the right conditions, the Latemar is reflected in the Karersee. Definitely worth a look.

The Geisler
The nature park Puez Geisler extends over several places in South Tyrol on a surface of approx. 10.722 ha. It's a popular area for hikers.

The Schlern/Sciliar
My personal favorite among the Dolomites is the Schlern. The Schlern belongs to the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park and immediately stands out with its sophisticated shape. As with all mountains of the Dolomites, there are also a large number of wonderful hiking trails to switch off from the stressful work routine.

Lakes
The offer of lakes in South Tyrol is great. Whether swimming, sailing, kiting and boating, there should be something for everyone. Some lakes stand out for their crystal-clear water and invite you to spend a relaxing day at the water.
The environmental organization Legambiente has awarded in 2017 some lakes with the highest seal for water quality.

Pragser Wildsee - Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park
The Pragser Wildsee is one of the most famous lakes in South Tyrol. It stands out for its shimmering blue color and attracts thousands of photographers and tourists every year.

Reschensee
The Reschensee is not a natural lake. This was artificially dammed several decades ago and devoured the former village of Graun. For this reason, still rises the church tower from the lake.
That's right, we did not build the church in the lake;)
This lake is a hotspot for kite surfers and has an extensive range of kite schools.

Summer
The numerous hiking trails in South Tyrol invite you to leisurely walks with breaks on the numerous mountain inns. There you can enjoy the tranquility of nature to a "Marende"(picture below) and a cold beer extensively.
The ideal place to take a break from the hectic city life.

Winter
In winter, the large selection of ski resorts attracts many winter sports enthusiasts into the country. Whether snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. There is something for everybody. Many spend the day on the slopes and in the evening enjoy the many wellness offers in selected hotels and accommodations.

The traditional South Tyrolean cuisine
All Foodies I can recommend a trip to South Tyrol. The South Tyrolean cuisine mixes Italian and traditional Tyrolean cuisine. Dishes like knödel(dumplings), schlutzer(schlutzkrapfen), tirteln, grapes and bacon may not be missing on the traditional South Tyrolean kitchen table.

Törggelen
Every year in autumn, the Törggele season begins in South Tyrol. Here you sit with beloved people in a cozy Tyrolean room and let yourself be pampered by the hosts with delicious Törggele dishes and South Tyrolean wine.
This custom has always been very popular and belongs to the South Tyrolean tradition.

Südtirol ist die nördlichste Region Italiens und ist bekannt für seine einzigartige Umgebung und Natur.

Die Dolomiten - UNESCO-Welterbe
2009 wurden die Dolomiten in das Unesco Weltkulturerbe aufgenommen. Zu den bekanntesten Gipfeln der Dolomiten gehören unter anderem die Drei Zinnen, der Latemar, die Geisler und die Sellagruppe.
Die Dolomiten und die beruhigende Natur zieht jedes Jahr Millionen von Touristen nach Südtirol.

Die Drei Zinnen
Die drei Zinnen befinden sich im Hochpustertal und sind als das Wahzeichen der Dolomiten bekannt. Sie ziehen jedes Jahr begeisterte Wanderer, Kletterer und Freunde von Skitouren an.

Die Geisler
Der Naturpark Puez Geisler erstreckt sich über mehrere Orte in Südtirol auf einer Fläche von ca. 10.722 ha. Bei Wanderern ist er aufgrund seiner Flora und den traumhaften Wanderwegen ein beliebtes Gebiet.

Der Schlern
Mein persönlicher Favorit unter den Gebirgen der Dolomiten ist der Schlern. Der Schlern gehört zum Naturpark Schlern-Rosengarten und sticht durch seiner ausgefeilten Form sofort ins Auge. Wie bei allen Gebirgen der Dolomiten gibt es hier auch eine große Anzahl an traumhaften Wanderwegen um vom stressigen Arbeitsalltag abzuschalten.

Seen
Das Angebot an Seen in Südtirol ist groß. Ob Schwimmen, Segeln, Kiten, und Boot fahren, es sollte für jeden was dabei sein. Einige Seen stechen durch ihr Kristallklares Wasser hervor und laden zu einen entspannten Tag am Wasser ein.
Die Umweltorganisation Legambiente hat 2017 einige Seen mit dem höchsten Siegel für die Wasserqualität, ausgezeichnet.

Pragser Wildsee - Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags
Der Pragser Wildsee gehört zu den bekanntesten Seen in Südtirol. Er sticht durch seiner blau schimmernden Farbe hervor und lockt jährlich Tausende Fotografen und Touristen an, die (sich) ein Bild davon machen wollen.
Dieser See sieht richtig geil aus. Er hat schon fast etwas magisches an sich.

Reschensee
Der Reschensee ist kein natürlicher See. Dieser wurde vor mehreren Jahrezehnten künstlich angestaut und hat das frühere Dorf Graun verschlungen. Aus diesem Grund ragt noch der Kirchturm der Gemeine aus dem See.
Ganz recht, wir haben die Kirche nicht in den See gebaut ;)
Dieser See ist ein Hotspot für Kite Surfer und hat ein umfangreiches Angebot an Kiteschulen.

Sommer
Die zahlreichen Wanderwege in Südtirol laden zu gemütlichen Wanderungen mit Pausen auf den zahlreichen Berg-Gasthäusern ein. Dort kann man die Ruhe der Natur zu einer "Marende" und einen kühlen Blonden ausgiebig geniesen.

Winter
Im Winter lockt die große Auswahl an Skigebieten viele Wintersportler ins Land. Egal ob Schneeschuhwandern, Ski fahren, Rodeln und Snowboarden. Für jeden ist etwas dabei. Viele verbringen den Tag auf den Pisten und geniesen am Abend die vielen Wellness Angebote in ausgewählten Hotels und Unterkünften.

Die traditionelle Südtiroler Küche
Allen Foodies kann ich einen Abstecher nach Südtirol empfehlen. Die Südtiroler Küche vermischt Gerichte der Italienischen und der traditionellen Tiroler Küche. Gerichte wie Knödel, Schlutzer(Schlutzkrapfen), Tirteln, Strauben und Speck dürfen auf dem traditionellen Südtiroler Küchentisch nicht fehlen.

Törggelen
Jedes Jahr im Herbst beginnt die Törggele Saison in Südtirol. Dabei sitzt man mit geliebten Menschen in einer gemütlichen Tiroler Stube und lässt sich von Gastgeber mit leckeren Törggele Gerichten und Südtiroler Wein verwöhnen.
Dieser Brauch ist seit jeher sehr beliebt und gehört zur Südtiroler Tradition.
