Day #6.

It was our last day, last breakfast on the terrace, last swim in a nice pool ...
After breakfast, we enjoyed the spa for about 2 hours. We started with the outdoor pool heated to 30 degrees. There was no one so we enjoyed the view and the tranquility of the place.

Then we enjoyed the Finnish sauna at 80º and the steam bath (hammam). I also tested for the second time the pure oxygen of the cabin (99.99% pure air) and this time no feel faint,! I think it's enough not to take deep breaths ^^.

It was a moment of pure relaxation before packing and visiting Las Palmas for our last day.

After returning the keys to our room at the hotel reception with a slight feeling of sadness, we took the road to the north of the island.

Our first stop was: Vegueta

Vegueta was the original settlement that gave birth to Las Palmas in the late 15th century and is a historic old town full of culture and pretty corners! I advise you to visit it because its streets and squares contain historical buildings such as the Casa de Colon, the Santa Ana Cathedral, the Museo Canario museum, the Gabinete Literario club, the town hall and the Centro Atlántico gallery of Arte Moderno.

We made a stop at the Market so the area was built in 1856. This typical market contains colorful stands of fruits, vegetables, meat, local products ...

What is impressive is the size of fruits and vegetables! They are gigantic! As you can see in this picture with the big tomato!

We bought big cherries and figs. And we tasted a fruit that we had never tasted: the prickly pear! It is a very difficult fruit to peel because it contains very aggressive spines. So we opted for the option of already peeled fruits ^^.

Rich in vitamin C, the prickly pear is full of anti-oxidant virtues. It helps cell renewal and intestinal transit.

After this tasting of fruits, we went to eat at Las Palmas, in a cute place facing the "Playa de las Canteras".

We did not really get back in the city because we wanted to fill up with sea air before flying. It was a nice moment.

Then, it was time to go to the airport to make the car rental and take our plane back to Barcelona.

In summary, this week of vacation in Gran Canaries was fantastic! We had a perfect time all week, we were able to do everything we wanted, at our own pace. This island is superb if you take the time to go out sightseeing. The richness of natures is incredible and you can see hundreds of different plants and animal species ...
The welcome at the Sheraton Salobre Golf & Resort has made this trip even more beautiful! A big thank you to all the staff at this amazing hotel!
