Indonesia isn't just Bali + 5 places to visit when travelling to Indonesia
Very often when people travel to Indonesia, they visit Bali. Of course anyone can travel where ever they want. I just noticed that not only on this platform but also outside, that people seems to think that Indonesia just exists of the island Bali. Indonesia is large and exists of (+/-)16.000 islands. There are too many hot places to visit when travelling to Indonesia. Why not exploring something different than just Bali?
If you really would like to explore the country, you should really go try tasting the culture. Why tourists prefer Bali or just come up with Bali when traveling to Indonesia? Is the because tourists can buy alcohol easily just in Bali or is it because the locals speak more English than anywhere else in Indonesia? Or is it maybe both? Well, it isn't so easy to find alcoholic drinks in Indonesia as in Europe or other Western countries. But why can people not live without alcohol when they are on holiday? ( If that is the reason why people just want to visit Bali). Or when the reason is that the locals do not speak English in other places, I would say: try to learn the language! Try to learn some Indonesian words to show you are also interested in their culture. Not just when traveling Indonesia, but also other countries. I think it is good that we learn some words or sentences of the language of the country we are traveling to. The world is large and English sin't the only language in the world. Yes, we all should learn English, but as a tourist who are we to demand from people of that country to speak English?
People say the beaches are beautiful in Bali. Well, there are many more beaches in Indonesia that are as beautiful or even more beautiful than Bali. Especially when you want to taste the culture and you don't want to see too many other tourists, you should try visit other places.
My top 5 places I would like to visit when traveling to Indonesia
1. Raja Ampat
I found out about Raja Ampat when I was Youtubing about Indonesia. I do this when I really miss Indonesia. I was amazed how beautiful this place looks like! I really would love love love to go there.
Look how clear the water is and no one around you! The beach is yours! This looks really like paradise!
2. Togean islands
I saw the movie Jago at Netflix. It is an Indonesian movie with English subtitles. The movie is made in the Togean islands.
If you love beaches and the sea, than I can really recommend this movie. It is amazing that this old man can hold his breath for so long under water and hunt for fish using only his sphere. He hunts for fish because he needs to eat to stay alive. He is 80 years old and he looks super healthy and fit for his age! He is also very happy living in his simple hut.
If you love snorkelling you can do that too at Togean Islands.
They say this is the best place to snorkle in Indonesia. You will see more tropical fish and many kinds of corals than anywhere else in the country.
3. Jellyfish Lake - Palau
There is even a place called Jellyfish Lake at Togean islands. You will swim with all those jellyfish and not getting stinged. They are harmless! Unfortunately it is at the moment not possible to swim there because the jellyfish are dying. I read somewhere because of the suntan lotion that snorkelers are using. So maybe after a few years it is possible again.
4. Tangkuban Perahu - Bandung
This is a volcano where you can look into the crater. The air is cool and the water is white and very warm. I heard that as a tourist, you better go there with some Indonesian people/friends(if you know any). They really let you pay much more than locals and you should avoid going there in the weekends.
A nice place for photoshoots.
5. Padang
This looks like Switserland :-D. If you travel to Padang, you will see funny looking houses/buildings. The food over there is also extremely spicy but delicious.
This place looks like paradise! This is Lubuk Bonta waterfall in Padang. I wish to be there right now! I would love to visit all those places. I hope in the nearest future we will see these beautiful places and be able to swim with jellyfish! Let's hope Steem price will rise again!
Wow! Indonesia is so beautiful @fathin-shihab. I really loved your post. Its good to read your post my dear friend. ☺💚
Thanks for sharing this post.
Very beautiful places! Paradise islands!!! I want to see it. How many dollars a day do you need on average? Food and excursions. I do not drink alcohol.
Ow, that's difficult to say how many dollars you need a day because it depends on what you buy and where. You can make it as cheap and as expensive as you want. But you can buy a large meal for a few dollars only.
Hello @fathin-shihab, nature definitely gives us beautiful places, look at the water that nice blue color, and that fall of water, what beauty, thank you for sharing such beautiful photos.
Blessings:)
Yes, nature is beautiful if we don't make a mess in the nature. You're welcome! blessings too :-)
Thank you for these beautiful pictures from Indonesia. My in laws are Indonesian but my husband was born in The Netherlands. He has never been to Indonesia and we are planning a trip there so your article is very helpful.
I think people go to Bali because it is the safest options. They just want to lie down on a beach and they are afraid of unknown. If you consider that the culture there is very different to Europe or The US then I understand them. But you are right. We should explore also different parts of this beautiful country!
Ow, that's a pity that he has never been to Indonesia. I live in The Netherlands btw :-). I am not sure if Bali is the safest for tourists because people know where to find tourists: in Bali. Everywhere you travel the culture is different, so we have to accept the culture too, not only the beaches :-). I hope this article will indeed be helpful :-)
I see Raja Ampat is smart location to swimming. It has so clearing water and beach wanna my self. :) Nice to hear Jago made through Togean islands. I'll definitely watch it soon. Padang is adorable location and nice natural things and places. I have hope to travel Indonesia after read your blog.
