THE ROAD TRIP

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

My phone rings and I rolled over picked it up it was the alarm and its 6am already, I jump out of bed because I have a bus to catch. After much hurry i got to the RTC Park at waterlines Port Harcourt but thank God am not late my colleague is still on his way, he got they at about 7:15,the journey started at about 7:30 from the RTC park port harcourt where there were lots of buses conveying people to different destination across the country but we were going to Ogba/Egebema Omoku to be precise.
We boarded a 14 seater Toyota Hiace bus in which the passanger are mostly women, I bought a can of Sprite and a sausage roll(Gala)as my second company as I will be traveling with a colleague which is the first company. Our route was through Aba express road a major road in Port Harcourt linking to various part of the country.
We took a little bisect into Eliozu, Rupokwu, Iguruta, Omagwa, Elele and many other communities. It was a close to two hours journey but unlike a normal journey the bus was quiet I don't know why and there were so much checkpoints because of the unrest in the area and we finally landed at the RCT park Omoku, were we boarded a trycycle (keke) to the Onelga council were we thats my colleague by the name Samuel waited for our client to come and take us to the field.
At about 30mins later, here they come with some military escort because of the tension in the area and from the council we drove to Agip Flow Station at a community called Egi, after some munites later just at our arrival we heard an explosion in the yard that causes great fear around the place, when i ask what happened the say one of the reservoir burst God its was loud and we were so tensed. The men that picked us were Agip representatives on land matters such as land acquisition etc.they call them lands men, we were Estate Surveyors and our job is to give them the value of land, crops, and buildings along their pipeline because they (Agip) want to acquire it.
From the Agip flow Station we went to the community (IDU), were we were to do our job (Valuation) as it is called but the job did not commence because the demands of the community were not met, the youths and elders came out and if not of the military we would have been beaten thoroughly. It wasn't a bad agitation by the community by the way but after much delibration and plea from our side they still refuse us working so under that heavy downpour at about 2:30 we have to leave the community they the military and the client that picked us conveyed us to the Park gave us little money for banana and for sorry for the disappointment, we boarded a bus and head for another long trip back home at about 4:56 I got to the house all tired I manged to eat and off to bed the next time I woke up was 3:47 and yet another day.
