Journey Through The Wilderness Of Jordan
The Exodus Path To The Promised Land
They had just crossed the Red Sea, where they celebrated their freedom by the Sea. This was a freedom they did not understand, as they had always been slaves. Now they had to travel through the wilderness of Jordan. Biblical history tells us that it was a hard time that took almost 40 years. The above picture shows the vast wilderness that they traveled through. Even today, it is a harsh land and very unforgiving.
The Mountains Of Jordan
The above photo shows a peaceful time at the base of the mountains in one of the harshest deserts in the world. See the desert below, so harsh and unforgiving. This harsh time in the wilderness of Jordan, where the Israelite's wandered, is recorded throughout the Books of Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and many others. The Bible records that God lead them throughout this time, preparing them for the time when they would enter the Promised Land.
Deuteronomy 2:7
"For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing."'
The Promised Land That Moses Saw From The Top Of Mount Nebo
At the end of that wandering through the vast wilderness, God allowed Moses to climb Mount Nebo and look out over the Promised Land. This is that view today from the top of Mount Nebo.
If you are planning a trip to the Middle East, this is one of the journeys you will not want to miss. Israel and Jordan are vast countries filled with deserts that today are blooming. Not so back when history tells this story. There is so much to see and so much to do in both countries. Enjoy your travels in the Middle East.
