Ice drift on Sukhona river in the mid of March
On March 14 and 15, ice shifts were noted on the Sukhona River in the vicinity of the villages of Porog and Lodeika. Water levels are rising. At such an early date, the ice on the river had never begun to move. Currently, the water level in the area of the village of Poldarsa is more than seven meters. Let me remind you that in the fall in Veliky Ustyug the Sukhona River stood (frozen) in a ice congestion. It seems to me that flooding of the lowlands will not be avoided.
What bothers me most is that I am far from these places. If suddenly something serious begins, then our regional information center will in any case send one of the photo correspondents to the area.
In the meantime, I have to follow the situation on videos and photos from social networks.
These photos were taken during a severe ice jam in 2018. Now the situation on the river is very similar.
