Which Airports Have Transit Hotels?
You've got a long airport layover, and all you want to do is sleep, but stretching out on a bench with your carry-on luggage as a pillow just isn't going to cut it. You're longing for a real bed - and perhaps even a shower before your next flight - but you don't want to clear immigration and customs. Well, if you happen to be killing time at one of the 8 airports below, you're in luck. Each of these facilities has hotel or day rooms where you can lay your weary head without exiting the secure area of the airport. Most transit hotels rent rooms for flexible chunks of time, from a few hours to a full day.
Changi Airport, Singapore
The Ambassador Transit Hotel has three locations on the third level of the Transit Mall. They have standard rooms with private bathrooms, as well as budget rooms with shared bath facilities. The Terminal 1 location even has a rooftop swimming pool and a fitness center, while the Terminal 2 branch has a spa with massage and beauty services.
Seoul Incheon International Airport, South Korea
Incheon's transit hotel has two branches, one at either end of the main transit hall. The hotels are located on the fourth floor, along with other leisure areas such as a TV lounge, Internet center, showers, a massage parlor, and various airline lounges. The hotel has standard double and twin-bedded rooms, as well as some suites.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, The Netherlands
One of Europe's busiest airports, Schiphol has two lodging options inside the secure transit area. Located in Lounge 3 of the transit hall, Mercure Schiphol Terminal is a standard hotel with 33 rooms with private bath, cable TV, and wireless Internet access. In Lounge 2, the Yotel at Schiphol offers less expensive cabin rooms similar to train compartments.(Yotel also has branches in the public areas of London's Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.)
OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa
International travelers transiting through southern Africa's air travel hub can take advantage of the Protea Hotel Transit on the third floor, above the duty free shopping zone. The hotel has 43 rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning. There are also shower facilities available for passengers who want to freshen up without booking a room.
Dubai International Airport, United Arab Emirates
Located in the Sheikh Rashid Terminal, the Dubai International Hotel has deluxe rooms and suites. The hotel also has a business center and the G-Force Health Club and Spa.
