"Varekai" or "Wherever"
"Varekai - which means 'wherever in the Romany language of the gypsies, a concept that avid travelers everywhere can identify with..."
Like magic, I found this in a random pocket of a bag today, and I haven't seen it in at least 4-5 years. A sign that all is well and that this move to Ireland is meant to be.
This is an important magazine clipping. I found it on a plane 14 years ago, just after meeting a man who called himself a Romany gypsy. The synchronicity with the Romany word of 'Verakai' - wherever - was perfect. At the time, I was praying for signs that a trip I was about to take to Cambodia was meant to be. I was burnt out from 2 years in Afghanistan and wasn't sure if I was really supposed to go to Cambodia. The magic of finding this on the plane years ago was confirmation. That trip to Cambodia, that unexpectedly brought me to LA, was one of the most life-changing phases to date.
Finding this right now, after all the packing is said and done, makes me think this leg of life's journey will be equally or more significant. Will let you all know how it goes.
