It took me some time to read your post but I am not regretting it. You're writing about a world I'm not familiar with and I had the chance to learn a lot about it by reading your post.
I have a bit aquaphobic, I can swim but I don't think I would be able to dive ever. Ice diving must be hard but wonderful in the same time. The photos are absolutely stunning!
The sauna ritual sounds familiar, I've seen it in the movies but I can't remember in which one.
