Come to know the forest of Chapultepec where is the only Castle inside the Mexico City

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Inhabited at the time by Maximiliano and Carlota, the castle of Chapultepec is one of the tourist attractions offered by Mexico City to the world.
The castle opens its doors to the public from nine o'clock in the morning
I recommend that you visit the castle in the morning when you are walking towards the castle, you will see many people exercising taking advantage of the climb and the descent to run.
There is no better place than a forest to exercise and breathe fresh air early in the morning.

Maximilian of Habsburgo and Carlota of Belgium were the emperors that governed Mexico between 1864 and 1867.

I want to mention that I personally took all the photos of this post and hope you like them.

When you leave the metro station "Chapultepec" you can see the entrance to the Chapultepec forest.

The easiest way to get to the castle is in the public transportation "subway" of Mexico City which costs $ 5 pesos which is equivalent to $ 0.3 dollars.
This is the best option as there is no parking for cars that is close to the entrance.
You will need to wear comfortable shoes or tennis because you will have to walk a lot to do the tour.

This is the bridge that you will have to cross to enter the Castle.

When you cross the bridge you can see the cars on the "Circuito Bicentenario" avenue.

If you turn back you will see the entrance of the castle by "Reforma" avenue and in the distance you can see the monument of the Angel of Independence.

This statue you will find at the end of the bridge.

Altar a la patria

It houses the remains of "Niños Heroes" and Colonel Felipe Santiago Xicoténcatl.

Thus the monument is seen from near.

The "Niños Héroes", were six Mexican teenage military cadets. These cadets died defending Mexico City's Chapultepec Castle from invading U.S.
The Boy Heroes were Agustín Melgar, Fernando Montes de Oca, Francisco Márquez, Juan de la Barrera, Juan Escutia y Vicente Suárez.

More detailed information you will find in wikipedia

At the entrance you will find a place to store your things, because they are not allowed to enter with water or food.

When you approach the road that goes up, you will see the castle from below.

When you go up the path that leads to the castle you will find many people running up for exercise.
It's Friday and at that time it was 9:15 am and there are few people.

If you stop for a moment and turn to the right, you will see part of the forest and in the background the buildings of Mexico City.

This fountain you will find by the side of the road.

Statue of José María Morelos.

Before arriving at the castle you will see the entrance to the Caracol Museum.

Known by the public as the Caracol Museum for its spiral form of marine snail, the History Gallery has 12 rooms in descending order that are equivalent to two floors of exhibition. The museum is divided in 5 historical periods.
The museum is from the history of Mexico.
It is a good idea to give yourself time to enter the museum since you can find out with great detail the origin of the Castle.
The entrance costs $ 70 pesos, which is equivalent to about 4 dollars.

In this module of information they give you brochures with information of the castle.

This is a side entrance to the castle that is closed to the public.

This looks like the door of the main entrance to the Castle.

Here the regulation to enter

This is the ticket window where you can buy your ticket.
The entrance costs $ 70 pesos, which is equivalent to about 4 dollars.

When you cross the main entrance this is the first view of the Castle.
The castle is in the highest point of the forest and in the background you can see two of the largest buildings in Mexico City.

This is how the castle looks when you see it from the front.

Seeing these huge paintings of the Mexican Revolution is really impressive.

And this is the view when you turn left.

These are the stairs that take you to the first floor of the castle.

If you look at the ceiling where the stairs are, you will appreciate this beautiful painting.

This is the view from the stairs outside the castle.

In the background you can see some statues of the "Niños Heroes" and you can also see the building known as the "Hotel de Mexico".

Up on the first floor you can see the fountain at the bottom.

Following the route you find other stairs

After visiting the castle you can go down and take a walk in the forest where you will find a beautiful lake where you can rent a boat and paddle

You can do a tour around the forest by bicycle which is the most recommended.

I hope you liked the photos, it is worth the visit the castle is impressive.
