Travel - Miami & Crashing the North American Bitcoin Conference After Parties

I took a last minute trip to Miami after some unplanned time off. Last week I gave my two weeks' notice to my employer. Since I am going to a competitor, they had me leave that day versus staying the two weeks. I figured that I would check to see if I could find any deals on a short vacation, and looked at Nashville, New Orleans, and Miami before choosing Miami.

I took off with my sister Wednesday afternoon and stayed until Friday evening. We booked a hotel directly on the beach called The Penguin. It was a small, boutique hotel, like a lot of them are in South Beach and was good for a short trip. I did like that the place was decked out in Penguin statues.

A nice perk of staying at The Penguin is that they do offer free brakfast!

After we were settled in, we walked down Ocean Drive to Wet Willies for dinner. They serve bar food and are known for their wall of slushie style drinks. It was a bit cold during our trip, so slushie drinks weren't super appealing.

Walking back I noticed a bus covered in a DASH design and bitcoin logos on a bar I wanted to go to. We ended up coming back to the bar after a nap to find that it was hosting a welcome party for the North American Bitcoin Conference. It was awesome to go out and meet people who are involved in crypto, and the group in general were a good time. I will mention that it really shows how heavily male dominated the crypto industry is. I would say that out of 1000 people, you could count the number of females on two hands.

The next day was a bit too cold to lay on the beach so we opted to rent bikes and just bike the entire boardwalk stretch. We stopped a few times for pictures and then did some shopping and eating on Collins Ave. For dinner, we went to the Front Porch Cafe. It was reaalllly yummy!

After another nap, we decided to go out to E11EVEN, which is a 24/7 club in Miami. They always have cool things going on and we ran into the Conference group again, so I met a few additional crypto people.

The next day we checked out and grabbed beach towels, since it was a little warmer. We sat out on the beach for a few hours to pass the time before our flight. Our flight got delayed, but I did get a few cool pics when we took off.
