Paradise Destination
One of the great things of living in South East Asia is the opportunity to explore exotic places (by western standards) and if you are into surfing...To Surf World Class waves. Sometimes in Remote places that are fairly uncrowded
One of this places is Rote Island. And in Rote Island, the place we loved the most was a beach/ wave called Nemberala
Nemberala is also called T-Land (T standing for Timor, as Rote island lies south west of West Timor) and -Land making reference to the fact that Nemberala is a left had wave reminiscent of G-Land (Grajagan Bay)
Nemberala is definitely world class. As long an interesting as G-Land but much more forgiving
I am a pretty average Surfer but managed to catch incredible waves (maybe the best in my life yet) with little effort
The lineup is never too crowded and the ratio of waves vs surfers is so positive that everyone is really friendly. As a matter of fact, people are quite polite and encouraging for you to take waves
My wife had a great Surf instructor. His name is Ron and he has been teaching surfing for decades, starting in Waikiki in Hawaii one he was young. There is a small break on the beach where beginners like my wife can get their bearings before venturing out into the reef
Apart from the unbelievable waves, The beaches in Rote are packed with incredibly beautiful nature. Whenever we were not surfing, we were taking pictures of all the wonders around us
Definitely a place to visit again
