Travelogue #4. Public transport in Athens
Hello, Steem! I decided to devote this post to public transport in Athens. On the photo you see the tram. It does not make any noise, you can even talk while travelling by it! You may think that it’s nothing special, but when I compare these trams to those of Ukraine, I can assure you that it is certainly a big breakthrough! I travelled by all kinds of transport in Athens (metro, tram, bus) so I can authoritatively say that the whole transport of Athens is equipped with air-conditioners, and, you will not suffer from heat while moving around the city.
There is one thing that I would like to mention. If you are planning to travel by subway or by tram in Athens, make sure you have coins (in euro), because you won’t find a ticket machine accepting paper money. We were caught in a situation when we had to wander through the embankment in Athens for a good half an hour, looking for any stalls or small shops in which we could change the paper money for coins. It's very tiresome and not very exciting, so we'd better know about it beforehand.
But when we eventually found the coins, the machine took our money and broke without giving us one of 4 tickets. We, of course, turned to the station employee and told him what had happened. But he shrugged his shoulders and answered us in good English: "In Greece, nothing works".
A day earlier, we had already met "non-working" machines. It was a machine selling water. It took 1 euro and gave us one small bottle of water, although there should have been two and 20 cents of change. There was no one around to tell it to, so we had nothing to do but to take our water and leave.

Photo # 2. Worker of the station. Apparently, he explains to someone else that "nothing works in Greece")))
