Travelogue #1. Through the streets of Athens
Dear Steemians!
Have you had the same image of Athens in your head as I had before visiting it? I always thought it must be a clean, neat, almost all white city. I know, it’s the influence of Greek mythology and all those things of old Greece.
When I landed in Athens, that image was cruelly killed. I will show you real Athens how it is now, not thousands years ago.
Walking through the streets of Athens, the thing which impressed me most of all was that walls of all buildings were painted with graffiti. Sometimes we saw some nice drawings, but mostly some chaos on the walls.
Sometimes we saw some homeless people sleeping on he street:
Some garbage almost in the center of the city was very surprising, but looked like it is always there:
Athens is a very interesting city! It’s like an open-air museum with so many antiquities of ancient times. The Greeks are very cheerful people, they are always positive. People walk through the streets, sipping frappe with ice, talking and laughing.
The streets in the center are narrow, with a lot of parked cars.
Some streetviews were good, even with graffiti:
And, the view from our hotel's balcony:
