Had an amazing hang with @xtrodinarypilot and family on their epic #steemit-readtrip as they rolled into NYC! The perfect summer day began with a rendezvous at my favorite local coffee haunt. From there we hit the Williamsburg waterfront with our combined six kids in tow. There's nothing I like more than connecting with like-minded and super cool folks and @xtrodinarypilot and his family fit that bill perfectly. And such an awesome adventure they're on driving all the way here from Texas, all thanks to Steemit.

As we walked, chatted and played with our kids (read: tried to stop them from climbing over the railing and swimming to Manhattan), it made me reflect on all the incresdible people this platform has brought into my life and in such a short time.

There's this longstanding idea perpetrated that at a certain point in your adult life you stop making close friends. And to be honest, I haven't totally found it to be true, but I can say that the tap started to slow to a trickle somewhere in the last few years.

Enter Steemit

Just as this amazing decentralized platform is an accelerator for creativity, focus, technology (and the all important modern condition: chasing scratch), it's also an accelerated mechanism for making what I so far have found to be surprisingly deep friendships.

Since I got more active on the platform in the last 2 months (could it really have only been 44 days ago that I wrote my intro post?!? Well they say the blockchain doesn't lie, or at least it takes a whole hell of a lot of witness nodes to make it change its mind, or something...) Three incredibly cool friendships have sparked and developed (shout outs to @andrarchy, @ericvancewalton & @the-alien, ranked only by the alphabet ;-) and I'm positive these will last. Because to be quite frank, I wouldn't have it any other way.

So although my time with @xtrodinarypilot and his family was brief, I yet again felt a familiar kinship that speaks to a longstanding exchange of ideas, hang time both here and in their neck of the woods and at a guess, a deep and lasting friendship.

So thanks for coming by Williamsburg. See you in Texas!
