Travel the UK - a weekend in Torquay
Actually it was a Sunday and Monday night, but you get the idea. What a great couple of days. I had never been to Torquay before and had a preconception that it would be a touristy naff town. I was so pleasantly surprised. The centre has many shops you wish to browse round. Our hotel was a teensy weensy bit Faulty Towers but comfortable and central.
The marina is fantastic, luckily the great weather helped. We had a spin on the 'millenium wheel' ... not really called that, I think it was the South Coast Riviera Wheel or something like that. It looked quite exciting as we approached from the car park.
Then it started to look quite daunting ...
Once up there, although not scared of heights normally, it was a very odd sensation. Thank goodness it was only 6 minutes around, we wanted out after one revolution although your £6 pays for two. Pressing the stop button didn't work and we had a bit of a panic but luckily yelling out of the door gap at the bloke in the booth got the wheel stopped! One round was enough. The views were incredible.
The water front is gorgeous. We had the most lovely half hour in the baking October sun listening to a busker and having a coffee, watching the world go by, what could be better?
We had a delicious Italian meal, pasta with seafood, in Amici's before going to The Little Theatre to see the production of Move Over Mrs Markham, a very funny play put on in a converted church. Excellent venue and lovely evening out.
The pavilion looks like it will be gorgeous once restoration is complete, we will definitely return to see that.
are these just cell quality? nice!
Thanks for asking. These were all taken on my Samsung S4 phone and uploaded through Postimage as 640 x 480 images ... at last I have mastered the uploading photos to Steemit task!
