Dean Visits 4: Exploring Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu (Philippines)
Greetings my fellow Steemians! :) This travel blog is about Lapu-Lapu City, a historic city in the Philippines. Lapu-Lapu City is a historic place primarily because of two historical figures: Lapu-Lapu and Ferdinand Magellan. The Mactan Shrine, which is easily the most recognizable tourist spot in the city, was built in their honor. It also hosts the annual (virtually every town or city in the Philippines has one^^) Kadaugan sa Mactan Festival every April. One thing I definitely noticed when exploring the city is its colorful facade. Buildings and street markers were all painted or have a colorful tarpaulin plastered on them. The City Hall, of course, is not exempted:

Aside of the usual touristy activities, one can do night-outs and mingle with the locals at their local hub. The Outlets are lined up with different bars, pubs, 24/7 diners, and even a pharmacy. I actually ate this halo-halo for my dinner's dessert in there.^^
By day, you can opt to drop by and have some spiritual experience and at the same time do some historical exploration in the Nuestra Senora Birhen dela Regla National Shrine.
One thing I also like in Lapu-Lapu is the local street foods. Their meat skewers are gigantic (as compared to the ones found in Manila), and they're mostly sweet and/or hamonado-flavored.
To get around, you can mostly ride through the local jeepneys, these small jeepneys are also present in Manila, but in some parts only (mainly if you take the Pasay-MOA routes). Or the tricycles which are ever-present in the streets.
