Good Morning Friends. Lets Burn Some Demon Today. Shall We??

in #travel7 years ago

We are celebrating today, a special occasion- The festival of Gathemangal or Ghantakarna Chaturdashi. Today we burn a symbol of Demon. The festival of Gathemangal or Ghantakarna Chaturdasi, like most of the Nepali festivals, is an example of the victory of good over evil.

I will be posting about this (may be tomorrow or this evening), with history of this festival, stories behind this occasion along with today's original pictures (may be some video too). So stay tuned.

Sort:

Festivals of triumph over evil are universal, but in the west they are watered down. Shallow is now Holloween, and all about candy and risque costumes. Festivals are created to restore faith. Now they are mainly about making money.

Hey:) I agree with your comment about festivals. I have been to two gatherings that were festivals but no admission fee and no formal organization.
Maybe if you have some free time you could get to this one: Jackfest in AZ. Or yearly there is a national rainbow gathering. It is in a different bio-region each year.

:) all about restoring faith, healing, making connections

I totally agree with your definition of festival. It's really for restore faith. But we still follow these traditions with beliefs, not for making money. Not in my country at least. May be that's why my country is still listed on poor ones. 😂😂😂

Most countries that still have a rich culture can never be poor socially, they are just not mindless consumers.

Yup. Economically poor, but rich in culture.
